Nursing Home Abuse & Neglect
Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect is a growing area in personal injury law. In the past few years, many people have contacted our office with reports of mistreatment causing serious injury at nursing home facilities. Our firm is currently handling several such cases.
When a family member moves into a nursing home facility, you hope and expect that they will be well cared for. Unfortunately, that is sometimes not the case. There are several types of elderly neglect have become more and more common such as:
- Bedsores
- Sepsis
- Falls, or residents being dropped, resulting in physical injury
- Failure to provide adequate nutrition
- Inadequate medical care
- Insufficient protection from physical abuse or sexual abuse
Often nursing home residents are very vulnerable to elderly abuse because of physical or mental disabilities. If a loved one is in nursing home care, it is a good idea to always be on the look out for signs of abuse no matter how much you trust or like the nursing home and it's staff. Watch for rapid weight loss, bruising, bedsores, sever mood changes, and the appearance that your family member seems over medicated or sedated.
Please call our office at 312-399-8988 or contact us online if you believe your loved one has been the victim of elderly abuse at a nursing home.
